Process

Collaborative interviews will be filmed where youth will interview adults and seniors will interview youth, thereby building intergenerational relationships.
Participants will also record “A Day in the Life of a North Lawndale Resident” videos to allow participants to reclaim the narrative about the community.
Reflecting on the historical origin of North Lawndale has the potential to provide answers to daily struggles and challenges of the community.

CULMINATING PUBLIC EVENT

Public screening of the documentary in a Town Hall setting that will be simultaneously Live Streamed to a larger audience.
A safe space for grassroots community discussion that will include a panel discussion of leaders and participants.
Hot meal and a healthy food bag with fresh produce and other nutritious treats provided for participants.
Resources for job search, health, youth, and senior services from our community partners.

Share the documentary with partner organizations inside and outside of North Lawndale, locally and nationally, for screenings and discussion.
Documentary will be available for viewing on Amazon Fire TV stick and Roku, as these relationships have already been solidified.
Use community screenings and discussions about the past as well as the future of North Lawndale to involve more community residents in ongoing organizing work, as well as surface new issues for collective action.
